Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway

Often when we are at a crossroads that has us going down the well tread path of routine versus the uncertain path that leads to growth, the most impactful question to ask ourselves is, "What is it that I fear if I choose the uncertain path?" Is it the fear of failure? Fear of judgement?

Anyone who has experienced any success in life has had to take a risk. If we never risk anything, we'll never experience anything new.

So, what is in the way of your growth?

It's taken me almost 10 years of safety in comfortable, well-paying, and soul-crushing corporate jobs to make the leap to starting my own business.

I had told myself after grad school that I would work a corporate job to pay the bills while I built something of my own. But, as the years went by, it became harder to find the time and energy after work to pursue that. And the benefits were so hard to walk away from.

I came to that crossroad last year a few months into this pandemic. I could continue to be a cog, frustrated with all the bureaucracy that crushed all innovation, or, I could finally dive into the unknown. I felt the fear and did it anyway.

And you know what? I've done pretty well on my own. Of course, I have very frequent moments of self-doubt, and imposter syndrome is a part of my daily routine. But, I won't let myself get in my way.

My wish for you today, is that you don't let yourself get in your way.
